Macro partially disabled

Postby yuhangcn » Fri Jun 29, 2012 9:22 am

Hi there,

I have been using the great macro for a while, but recently I encountered some problem when I switch to another laptop.
On this new laptop part of the macro features are disabled, i.e. some work while some don't. This is a Lenovo thinkpad X61 with Windows XP system, what might be the reason? There is no other input method on it but the original english.
Thank you very much!

What version of Excel are you running?
Excel 2000 (very old) will need a different set of macros that we no longer maintain.

If on a new version of Excel (or anything after Excel 2000) then check to make sure you don't have other conflicting macros:
Alt + T + I (for add-ins dialog box) or look in the menu/ribbons to see what other custom macros are installed.

Thank you very much! Yes now it's working perfectly after I uninstalled the Bloomberg add-in.
But is there a way to modify the macro in order to make both of them work?

We've never heard of compatibility issues with the Bloomberg add-in actually.
Many of our macro users have our macros and Bloomberg simultaneously. We're not sure if Bloomberg changed their add-ins or not.

Can you specify which parts specifically are interfering?

For CapIQ, FactSet macros, the simple fix is to disable their hotkeys and shortcuts while maintaining full functionality.
Look for something similar within Bloomberg add-in...

I tested it for a while, as far as what I can see here, at least these 3 features are not working properly, and there might be more I guess..

Ctrl+Shift+D becomes zoom out instead of $ sign
Ctrl+Shift+E center no merge not working
Ctrl+Alt+G becomes eliminating/showing grids instead of green filling

if that's due to conflicting hotkey, I'm not actually using any hotkey of Bloomberg..can I possibly reset it?
Thank you very much!

I have been having the exact same issue with the Bloomberg add in. Was there a solution that was worked out?

Look for Settings or Options within the Bloomberg menu/ribbon and see if you can disable their shortcut/hotkeys.
Once you do that and restart Excel, you should have all functionality of Bloomberg and our shortcut keys.
If you cannot find where to disable Bloomberg's shortcut keys, we'll need to troubleshoot further with you.
Please let us know and we can assist deeper.

Thank you.
