This would depend on the type of financial analyst. Please clarify which department/function you are referring to.

Assuming you are referring to investment banking, equity research, private equity-type functions, the answer is, of course, Excel. All of our financial modeling training courses are done in Excel.

If referring to statistical related quant jobs (black-box coding), then it varies - from stats software like MatLab to Monte Carlo like Crystal Ball or @Risk, etc

If referring to more internal finance departments within finance that are more geared towards accounting and operations, then it would be more along the lines of SAP or other institutional accounting software.

Regular Excel correct. Buy a PC laptop with Office for PC.
And one doesn't just "learn Excel", one must use Excel.

I'm not good on excel. Do you have a class to train on how to use excel for this particular use or I have to take excel class out?

For the full accounting overview, you would need to take the Accounting Bootcamp course.
this is equivalent to 1-2 semesters of accounting, taught by the Dean of NYU Stern:

this will set the proper foundation for you to return to the Package 1 courses.

Your package expired!
One of our account representatives should have just gotten back to you or will very shortly.

Accounting for held-to-maturity is under the marketable securities section of the Accounting Bootcamp.

The short answer for HTM securities is that it is not marked-to-market and the unrealized gains and losses are not recognized on IS nor does it flow thru OCI.

Please let us know specific questions that you have so that we may better assist you.

We highly encourage you to have Windows, specifically Excel for PC. In the corporate world, it is Excel for PC not Mac. The shortcut and menus are also different (although similar). If you insist on Excel for Mac, then please download our Mac Excel shortcut sheet so you know the comparable keystrokes.
